always look up

i spent a beautiful saturday night scrubbing a toilet. and swiffering (wet and dry) my bedroom and bathroom floor, and cleaning the bathroom tub and sink, and scrubbing the soap scum from the sliding doors. and emptying out the garbage. and cleaning the microwave, the kitchen countertops, the stovetop and the floors.

and then my roommate and i drank wine and watched tv until my eyes were too tired to stay awake.

sunday evening, i'm sitting outside an outdoor cafe with james, enjoying the beautiful weather. as we were sitting there eating, i realized there was an army of pigeons directly above us with their butts hanging over the ledge, waiting to attack. trying to ease my paranoia, i looked around the area and saw no sign of bird poop on the floor. i deduced that the birds would not poop in the area, and tried to put it out of my mind and enjoy the night.

post dinner, we are sitting waiting for our check when the table next to us gets attacked by bird poop. james is sitting there laughing, and not 5 minutes later, he gets pooped on. dont laugh at the birds...they can hear you.

glitch

around three oclock this afternoon, the lights flickered throughout the office building...as did my computer. and next you know, the whole system crashed, and i, along with everyone else in the building, was at a standstill because all work requires a computer.

so i began by updating my organizer and organizing it. afterwards, i emailed a bit to pass the time. then i realized on my desk sat a thin layer of dust, so i cleaned my workspace. this lasted until the end of the day, so monday was a good day.

i've decided to stop using sugar substitute in my coffee. natural is always better, they say...and i, for one, have come to the conclusion that weight gain is a more welcome side effect, than, say cancer.

oh, happy day. good coffee at last.

dont be mad

i know i've neglected you for weeks. months even. i dont know for sure. but i'm going to make a solid effort to write more. i swear.

i just got back from the annual trip to s.f. *sigh* this trip was too short. and, as always, i must note that i have the greatest nephew/godson in the entire world. there is no greater feeling than being loved by a child. everytime i was away from him, he would ask, "where's auntie lyn?" in his semi-comprehensible vocabulary. he still hasnt completely learned my name -- it sounds something like autie leelee or autie leen. the worst is when he'll totally forget me and stop asking for me. i hate being so far away and missing so much.

otherwise, life is still the same. well, i was offered a promotion to another department. more money and a higher position, but absolutely not editorial. and i had a week to wonder whether money was more important than doing something that i love. i guess that's the age old question of all employed people. i still havent come to a solid conclusion. i'm kind of procrastinating til the last possible minute.

i just smushed a bug.

listen to the idioticness that is me (its not a word, but it works-- and you would probably read, not listen, unless you read this aloud). i go to s.f. full well knowing that there is an 8.25% tax on all clothing. now, common sense would tell a person to stay away from the common mall stores (gap, banana, jcrew) because these items are tax free in nj and obviously cheaper. but no, what do i do? i buy clothes that i could buy in nj in sf and end up paying extra on tax when i could have just waited and bought these items when i got home.

three more weeks til school starts.
