out and about

as nice as it was outside, it still wasn't nice enough to be wearing flip flops. people are strange sometimes. i would love to wear flip flops, 24/7, but there is a time and a place for that. 50 degrees isn't warm enough to be exposing the toes, i think. its the extremities that tend to go first when frostbite sets in.

i took advantage of today's weather and spied on strangers. honestly, i don't know how people commute to work with public transportation on a daily basis. i, myself, contribute to the increased pollution and overall destruction of our environment by driving 50 some-odd miles to and from work. i could take public transportation, but that would involve taking the light rail to hoboken and the nj transit train to n.p. and that's already too many forms of transportation for me to grasp. i digress...

so today, i'm sitting in the light rail and someone is sitting directly across from me. i am staring out the window, but if he wasn't looking at me, he'd probably think i had a staring problem because it looked like i was staring at him throughout the train ride. the reason i think this is because it felt like he was staring at me the whole time, when he was probably just looking out the window behind me.

holding on to things that other people hold on to gives me the heebie-geebies. as i grasped onto the pole in the path train, i thought to myself, "someone could have picked their nose and then held on to the exact same spot on this pole. and now i'm grabbing onto it while their cooties are rubbing all up on me. 10 minutes later, when i'm walking outside, i'll forget about boogerman's cooties, and something will fly into my eye, and i'll rub it with my cootie-infested hand, and now i have the bubonic plague. great."

walking was nice today. usually, i'm speeding through the streets, hopped up on buckee's or dunkin' donuts, but today i decided to take it down a notch. i just wanted to people watch and window shop and enjoy the beautiful weather. i walked through soho and got my visual fix looking at all the sidewalk art on west broadway...better than the met anyday. went into anthropologie, but nothing impressed me. stopped by kid robot to make myself smile and stopped at every jewelry vendor to search for the perfect bracelet. i was hoping to walk into a street fair like last time, but no such luck. i did, however, find the 2nd most gorgeous bag i have ever seen...and was almost crazy enough to buy it. it was a brown leather messenger bag...a little smaller than lola, but alot lighter...a perfect, everyday walking around bag. $350 for perfection. i couldn't do it...i'm not that crazy.(this coming from the girl who names her bags.)

so tempting, though.

foot loose and fancy free

one of my bags came in today. not the one i was looking more foward to, but i'm still happy. it's like they knew my birfday was coming up and wrapped it accordingly. very sweet. so worth $25. and its definitely real.

this morning i was completely zapped of energy. not only did i not get up until 7:45, but three cups of coffee still did nothing for me. it's probably the monthly thing, but i'm feeling like sh*t. i'm still tired now, and i want to just crawl into bed and call it a night, but its 7pm on a friday night, dammit!

you know what they say about idle hands...

after selling my soul to the devil and buying a ridiculously expensive (albeit gorgeous and 100% worth it) bag, i promised myself that this was to be the bag that ended all bags. after this bag, there would be no reason for me to stray. this bag encompassed anything and everything i could ever want or need from a bag. the color is the perfect shade of brown, the leather is "indiana jones" distressed, the shape is slouchy and sophisticated, the strap can be adjusted to make the bag as long as a messenger bag or as short as a medium sized slouchy shoulder bag. two pockets on either side to put my mp3 player and my camera. large enough to fit my wallet, my make-up bag, my notebook, a book, my cell phone and a sweater. you get the picture?

so yeah, i bought four more bags since then. ok, two of them i have absolutely no excuse for. they were impulse buys. i was bored at the airport, waiting for my plane to taipei and i happened to see these two cute sisley bags in duty free. and what do you know, they are on sale.

but in my defense, the third bag has purpose. its a camera bag for the canon digital xt. i think i paid a little too much for it...but i'm satisfied with my purchase. i'm not so happy yet because it hasn't arrived yet and it was supposedly shipped out last saturday.

the other bag was an ebay purchase. i dont know why i do this, but i'll always search kate spade messenger bags -- it was my first love, and you know what they say about your first love. anyway, i saw one in a color that i havent seen in a long time -- kate likes to switch up her colors every season and this bag was 4 or 5 seasons ago. i really liked the color (and am positive this is an authentic) so i placed the starting bid $24.99. i wasn't going to go any higher than that because i convinced myself that $24.99 was the most i would pay to get this bag. and guess what... no one else bid on it, so i got myself a handy-dandy little kate spade messenger bag for $25 bucks.

i'm never looking on ebay again.

i may have fallen off a cliff...

or died from mc, for all you knew. much as happened since the last time we spoke. geez, november. might as well update you on the mc experiment. i only lasted til day 7...i was starving for food, even though i wasnt starving at all. just missed it too much to want to keep going. since then, i've been to the philippines (i had a great time...couldn't believe how much i loved it there). visited some really great places and got to hang with my family for 2 whole weeks. well needed and well worth it. too bad i got sick at the tail-end of the trip.

i was pretty sick when i got back, and spent two weeks thinking i had major jet-lag til one day i realized i was just too sick feeling to go to work and went to the doctor instead. 7 days of antibiotics later, i'm feeling brand-spanking new.

this weekend i took my other new (yes, this makes 18) camera for a spin at the flea market. took some really great pics and bought useless crap in the process. i was supposed to do the same today, but ended up staying home and watching tv the whole day. some days you just need to do that.

i decided to do myself a favor and finally get a pocket digicam for everyday use. my g2 is a little too big to lug around whereever i go, but my new casio does the trick. i was feeling a little guilty switching brands, but the reviews for this camera were too good to pass up. i'm happy with my purchase and have used it every day since.

and since then, i've acquired the camera i've been drooling over since the summer...the can0n digital xt...didnt have time to use it this weekend, but that's what i'm dedicating all next week for. ooh, i can't wait for my photo field trip next week.

i officially have two weeks left of enjoying the number 27. aye-yay-yaye. not feeling too bad about it...i guess as the days grow closer, i'll figure out how truly freaked out i'm feeling. otherwise, things are good. work, check. home, check. friends, check, love, check. just got to work on those new year's resolutions...
