Saturday, September 30, 2006it has begun...
sorry its been so long since i last posted. along with still being sick, i've recently become engaged! :) it happened about two weeks ago...september 14th to be exact. james blindfolded me and drove me around for about an hour while i sat there and tried to figure out where we were going through the turns he was making. i was already lost by the time he took the exit for the nj turnpike going north. i thought he was going south.
he took the long way to edgewater...it takes about 30 minutes to get there from his house, but he wanted to throw me off, so he took the turnpike to englewood and then drove towards edgewater. he brought me to a place in edgewater where we used to go all the time when we first started dating. As I stood outside in the rain, blindfolded, he proceeded to tell me that the reason why we were there was because it was there that he knew i was the one for him. the whole experience was surreal. i remember standing in the rain...feeling pretty sick...him taking off the blindfold...looking at him as he got on one knee and opened the pretty box to reveal my gorgeous engagement ring. i remember closing the box because it was raining and then hugging him for the longest time and him saying, "so is that a yes?" (that was a yes.)
after we got back in the car, i made him open the box and put the ring on my finger. (it was a little big...it was a size 5 and my ring finger is a 4.5 or 4.25)...but i didnt care. i was so afraid it was going to fall off that i kept my hand clenched the whole time we were out.
no date set yet. just enjoying the moment. i have started magazine-buying. i'll be broke before the month is over. i'm overloaded with bridal information. my best friends bought me a wedding planner binder and a bunch of magazines, so i've been a little preoccupied ripping out ideas and trying to figure out a budget.
james and i have a tentative date in mind. we are going to find out if the church can accommodate that date, and if so...then we have to start looking for reception halls. i have to say, food is expensive. weddings are expensive. if it were up to me, i'd be having this shindig in hawaii with 40 of my closest family and friends and be done with it. unfortunately, both he and i have an army of people to please and so it goes.
the madness has begun. 12:54 AM
